I’m a freelance content writer, based in Hertfordshire, with a background in digital marketing, promotions, print media and communications.
I have a wealth of copywriting experience, creating content across an array of subject areas and industries, from Marketing, Ecommerce, Technology, Finance and Entertainment.
My content writing expertise covers short-form and long-form business blogs, how-to guides, white paper reports and ebooks, plus promotional copywriting, website content and even film and music reviews.
I have a wide range of interests, meaning that writing about lots of different topics comes naturally. However, I’m adaptable and comfortable researching subjects for copywriting projects which require understanding more about a particular topic or area of business. I can create compelling content that tells a brand’s story, communicates a key message and strikes the right tone.
Based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire (30 minutes north of London), I’m currently taking on a variety of content writing projects. These projects cover various different industries and I’m open to discussing ad-hoc projects, as well as ongoing campaigns, with businesses and individuals.
Content writing experience
Before becoming a freelance copywriter, I was the Content Marketing Manager for a digital marketing agency, based in London (2016-2018). I was responsible for conceiving and implementing inbound marketing strategies and content plans for the agency and its clients, including a well-respected ecommerce consultancy and website development agency in Manchester.
I created regular SEO-friendly content, to drive website traffic and increase leads and opportunities for the businesses. This content writing consisted of blogging, optimising website pages and creating lead magnets and downloadable digital resources, thought-leadership articles, social media copywriting, video content, and email marketing campaigns.
I created and published approximately 100 ecommerce blogs and expert retail strategy guides for Space 48. For Enchant Agency, I wrote around 150 digital marketing blogs and downloadable marketing strategy resources.
From 2010-2016, I worked for FSCS (Financial Services Compensation Scheme) in various roles, which included working within the Marcomms team on the Scheme’s awareness campaign. I was responsible for writing press releases, creating and editing content for the website, plus copywriting for money-saving articles and advertorials, which featured in national print titles, such as the Metro and Mail on Sunday.
As the regular film reviewer for Hackney Citizen, I wrote over 60 film reviews from 2011-2014, whilst I wrote ad-hoc film articles for Little White Lies. Around the same time, I created and ran the popular culture website Squawk the Talk, editing and writing articles across a range of different subjects, from sport, music, film, food & drink, TV, plus other areas of entertainment.
After leaving the University of East Anglia with a BA Hons Degree in Literature & Philosophy, I spent four years at Northern & Shell (then owners of Express Newspapers) between 2005-2009, where I worked within the Enterprise department. The role was to plan, coordinate and create copy for competitions and promotional campaigns to drive revenue through telephony and mobile services.
I was responsible for promotions and marketing activity across a range of national print media titles, such as Daily Express, Daily Star, OK! magazine, and various weekend titles and supplements.
I’m a scriptwriter too, currently working on several comedy screenplays, whilst I also have a children’s book project in progress.
